Does God still speak to us today? Many believe that divine communication ended with the prophets of old, but history is filled with saints who received visions, dreams, and warnings from heaven. Among them was St. John Bosco, a man gifted with prophetic dreams that revealed the future, warned of dangers, and provided guidance for souls.

His dreams were not ordinary. They were visions of Heaven’s mysteries, often showing him the spiritual battles of the world, the future of the Church, and even the fate of individuals. Some of his dreams came true in astonishing detail.

But what can we learn from him? How do we recognize when God is speaking to us? And how can we discern whether our dreams and inner urgings are divine or simply our imagination? Let’s explore one of St. John Bosco’s most remarkable visions and its significance for us today.

The Story: The Two Pillars and the Storm

Prayer of the God of Armies

One night, St. John Bosco had a powerful vision that would become one of the most famous prophetic dreams in Christian history.

He saw a vast, raging sea with a great battle between ships. At the center was a large ship, representing the Church, under attack by many smaller, hostile vessels. The Pope stood at its helm, trying to steer through the storm while the enemy ships fired cannons and launched waves of attacks.

Suddenly, in the middle of the ocean, two massive pillars rose from the waters.

St. John Bosco teaches us that no matter how fierce the battle, we will always find safety in Jesus and Mary. The Church may be attacked, but it will never be defeated. And neither will you—if you remain anchored in faith.

---

On the first pillar stood a statue of the Virgin Mary with the words “Help of Christians.”

On the second, taller pillar was a large Eucharistic Host with the words “Salvation of the Faithful.”

The Pope struggled to navigate toward these two pillars while the enemies continued their assault. But when the Church finally anchored itself between the pillars, a great peace filled the waters, the enemy ships sank, and the storm ceased.

John Bosco awoke, trembling. The meaning was clear—the Church would face fierce attacks, but its safety and victory would always come by staying anchored to the Eucharist and devotion to Mary.

Years later, the Catholic Church faced persecutions, political upheaval, and divisions, yet Bosco’s vision remained a message of hope: No storm could destroy the Church as long as it remained close to Christ in the Eucharist and under the protection of Mary.

Reflection: How God Speaks and How We Can Listen

St. John Bosco’s vision was not just for his time—it speaks to our generation as well. The storms of life are the struggles we face, and the attacks on the Church continue through spiritual confusion, division, and worldliness. But the solution remains the same:

1. Stay anchored in the Eucharist – The Holy Communion is not just a symbol; it is Christ Himself. When we receive Him with faith, we receive strength, grace, and divine protection.

2. Hold fast to Mary, Help of Christians – She is the mother given to us by Jesus Himself. In times of trial, her intercession is a powerful shield.

3. Learn to discern God’s voice – Not all dreams are from God, but when He speaks, it brings clarity, peace, and alignment with Scripture and Church teachings.

4. Understand that storms will come – Jesus never promised an easy life, but He promised that those who remain in Him will never be lost.

Have you ever felt that God was speaking to you in a dream, a thought, or a moment of prayer? Often, He speaks in the silence of our hearts. We just need to slow down, pray, and listen.

Closing Prayer – Pray With Me

Heavenly Father, I come before You with a heart open to Your voice. Like St. John Bosco, I desire to hear You clearly and follow Your guidance. Lord, when the storms of life shake my faith, anchor me in Your presence. Keep me close to Your Eucharist and under the protection of our Blessed Mother.

Teach me to discern Your voice from distractions, and give me the strength to obey Your will.

I break every barrier of confusion, doubt, and fear in my life. I declare that I will not be shaken, for I stand firm in Christ! Let Your peace reign over me, and let my heart always seek You in all things. In Jesus’ mighty name, I pray.

Closing Benediction

Sacred Heart of Jesus, I place my trust in You!

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.

God of Armies, God of gods, Christ Jesus, be praised forever, you are the greatest spiritual being of all time, Amen.

The Importance of Good Sleep for Spiritual and Physical Health

Did you know that sleep is essential not just for physical health but also for spiritual well-being? Even the greatest saints, including St. John Bosco, spoke about the importance of rest for a healthy soul and body.

Why Sleep Matters:

1. Restores the Body – Sleep helps the body repair itself, strengthens the immune system, and prevents illnesses.

2. Boosts Mental Clarity – Poor sleep affects memory, decision-making, and emotional stability.

3. Deepens Spiritual Awareness – God sometimes speaks through dreams, just like He did with St. John Bosco. A well-rested mind is more open to hearing Him.

4. Balances Emotions – Sleep deprivation can cause anxiety, depression, and stress. Rest allows your mind to refresh.

5. Improves Heart Health – Poor sleep is linked to high blood pressure, diabetes, and heart disease.

Healthy Tip:

Aim for 7-9 hours of quality sleep per night.

Avoid screens and caffeine before bed to improve sleep quality.

Pray before sleeping—ask God to guard your rest and give you peace.

A well-rested body and soul will always be stronger against life's battles!
